If there is one thing I just can’t understand, it’s people’s fascination with all things sparkly, animated, and cutesy that they feel they must slather their social network profiles with. Not only do they make their profiles hard to read, it also makes scrolling through it a pain.
What is it about these seemingly arcane artifacts that just compel these people of severely limited design sense to decide to play the “look I can copy and paste HTML code I’m a designerz LOL” game? Why make your profile harder to read? Why give other people even less of an incentive to want to suffer through ill-conceived combinations of elements that clearly do not combine well, just so they can read through a profile that clearly belongs to someone who has a vendetta against ocular health? What’s so wrong with keeping it simple so people can read what you’ve actually put in your profile?
I’ve openly criticized some of the people I know with profiles like these already, but I don’t think I’m getting through. It’s always some phrase in the form of the “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” idea and I always respond with something along the lines of “then you must be blind”.
Seriously, I’ve produced less uglier things by eating fiber.
